First bath - 7 important rules

Here are 7 important rules:

1. Don't bathe your baby every day. Bathing a newborn is always a stressful experience, involving undressing, transferring to the bathtub, contact with water, and removing from the bathtub. Furthermore, during the first month of life, a baby's skin is still very thin and therefore susceptible to irritation. It's also much easier to damage the physiological hydro-lipid layer. It's recommended to wash your baby every 2-3 days.

2. Equip your bathroom with a safe and comfortable bathtub . This is the safest way to wash your little one. The amount of water can be minimal, but it's worth adding an emollient or other hypoallergenic cleansing agent.

3. After bathing, wrap your baby in a soft towel made of safe fabrics, such as organic cotton. Remember not to rub the baby's skin, but rather to gently press the towel against the skin to remove excess moisture.

4. Adjust the water temperature – it shouldn't exceed 37 degrees Celsius. It's worth getting a special bathtub thermometer , which will make measuring much easier.

5. Use only gentle soaps , gels, lotions , and emollients suitable for baby's delicate skin. Baby bath products should be hypoallergenic.

6. Unless necessary, do not wet your baby's head for the first few weeks of his or her life. This is especially true in autumn and winter.

7. How to bathe a baby for the first time? First and foremost, keep it short. The entire process should take about 2-3 minutes. Gently massage your baby's body using a gentle bath product (e.g., an emollient) and your hands (sponges and brushes will come later). Rinse off any excess product from the skin with a small amount of water.

Safe cosmetics, what are they?

Baby skin is exceptionally delicate and prone to irritation, redness, and dryness. How to care for baby skin? Use cosmetics or dermocosmetics with dermatologically tested ingredients. It's important that they are free of artificial colors and fragrances. It's also best to avoid silicones and parabens. The shorter the ingredient list, the better. When choosing, consider safety certificates and natural ingredients.

The cosmetics available in our Kokosek store are environmentally friendly, not tested on animals, and their formulas come from certified and controlled crops.

Caring for a newborn's delicate skin

A small child doesn't need many cosmetics. A gentle body and hair wash, a moisturizing oil after bathing, a face cream with sunscreen (especially in the summer), and an ointment for diaper rash and heat rash can be used. The amount of body care products can be increased as the child grows.
