A short, simple, gentle and charming story from the series Soothing fairy tales – for preschoolers, as well as their parents and guardians. An antidote to the ubiquitous rush and multitude of emotions and impressions.
Snail, Birds, Fish, Mole, and Clouds decide to organize a competition. But how can they race when some swim, others fly or glide through the sky, and still others walk or crawl? Besides, races are fun because someone always wins, but also sad because someone always loses. Is it possible to organize a competition that everyone will enjoy?
The inspiration to create Soothing fairy tales were children on the autism spectrum. However, these books are intended for a broader audience – preschool children, including highly sensitive children who, faced with daily overstimulation, often need calming, quieting, and rest.
Everything here has been carefully considered. The plot is simple and accessible, the rhythm of the story is calm, almost melodic, and the number of characters is limited. The illustrations are collage-like, using a variety of textures and materials, with a single, central graphic element appearing in each book. Furthermore, the titles and some illustrations feature hand-cut lettering, which alludes to the collage illustrations – these are a different color in each volume.
Soothing fairy tales are published in the Open to the World series. This series features books that support the development of the youngest children. They address topics close to their everyday experiences. They help them explore the world around them and understand their own emotions, fostering empathy and creative thinking.
