ONCE UPON A TIME... a distracted chef lost the ingredients he needed to cook for the day. Help him find vegetables, legumes, fish, pasta... and other essential ingredients.
Number of players: 3 to 6 people
Age recommendation: + 7 years
Duration of each game: 15 minutes
Set includes: 80 cards: 17 recipe cards and 63 ingredient cards
OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME
Prepare recipes to score maximum points.
To prepare a dish well, you must have a recipe card and all the ingredient cards necessary to prepare the dish.
GAME
One player takes on the role of the restaurant manager. Each player receives seven cards, dealt face down, depicting the word CLOSED KITCHEN. Nine cards are then placed face up in a square in the center of the table. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile. The manager then shouts "OPEN KITCHEN!" and the players can look at their seven cards and get to work. You can swap the cards in your hand with the cards in the center of the table. You can do this as many times as you like, but always one at a time. So, if you want to take a card from the square in the center of the table, you must leave one of your cards in its place. You can swap recipe cards for ingredient cards and vice versa. But hurry! Someone might take the card you need!
When a player has a recipe card and all the ingredients needed to make it, they shout, "À LA CUISINE!" These cards are then set aside and play continues with the cards in their hand.
When a player does not want any of the cards in the center of the table, they can say "KITCHEN CLOSED!" and place the cards face down on the table, so that they are visible on the CLOSED KITCHEN side.
You can pick up your cards again, "reopening the kitchen," whenever you need to. You just need to know when to quickly "close the kitchen"; make it a good strategy for winning. When all players but one have placed their cards on the table with the KITCHEN CLOSED side down, it means a break. The manager takes nine cards from the center of the table and places them at the bottom of the pile.
Now it's time to check if the recipes prepared during the game were prepared correctly. If they are incorrect, the player must pick up their cards again. If they are correct, the player keeps the completed recipe cards for the final calculation. The manager deals as many cards as necessary to restore each player's hand to 7 cards, then places 9 cards face up in the center of the table. When the manager shouts "KITCHEN OPEN!", the game begins again.
GAME OVER
When there are no cards left in the stack and the kitchen closes for the last time, the game is over. Players add up the values of the entire recipe on the completed card. The player with the highest score wins.
game.
Sometimes, in the final round, there aren't enough cards to deal to the players, either 7 or 9, but don't worry. First, deal the players' cards, then place any number of cards in the center of the table. Players can trade cards in the final round.
