Can cows ride sleds? Of course, Mama Mu will do anything to have as much fun as the children! As usual, she must contend with the critical Mr. Crow, who dismisses Mama Mu's every idea with haughty indignation.
But all it takes is suggesting to Mr. Crow that he can't do something, and he immediately changes his tune. He can't? He can't steer the sled? His daring display of skill, of course, ends in a snowdrift. Mama Moo also ends up in the snow—and that, of all the sledding, is what she enjoys most!
Sven Nordqvist's richly detailed illustrations, full of surprises for the observant, wonderfully highlight the personalities of both heroes.
The sled tipped over and sank deep into the snow. Mama Mu fell and rolled for quite a while. When she finally stopped, she resembled a large snowball with antlers. Mr. Crow stood with his wings folded, regarding her with a stern look.
“You hit all the slalom poles,” he said. “Every single one!”
“Moo, that was great,” laughed Mommy Moo.
"You jumped off the ski jump, Mama Mu," he replied. "It's a wonder the sled held up."
“The most amazing thing was when I flew down,” said Mama Mu.
"A huge ditch has formed," said Mr. Crow. "Mommy, you're too fat."
"Me too, moo," said Mommy Moo. "I'm not too fat. It's the snow that's too soft."
