A wonderful, adventurous story about friendship, perseverance and dreams.

Peter Brown is a lonely boy whose parents are never home. For years, he's dreamed of having at least a cat for company, but neither his parents nor his nanny will hear of it. One day, Peter sees a tabby kitten in the park, carelessly runs after it into the street, and…is hit by a car. When he opens his eyes, everything seems different. Shocked, he realizes his body is covered in fur, and he has long whiskers and claws! Peter has become a cat.

His family, who don't recognize the boy in his new form, throw him out into the cold and squalor, and he quickly learns that London is as unfriendly to little boys as it is to four-legged friends. Fortunately, lost on the streets, Peter is rescued by Jennie, a clever cat for whom London, even at night, holds no secrets. Her new friend trains the youngster in the art of street fighting—for territory, food, and a suitable sleeping spot. She explains the feline world and teaches him the meaning of true friendship.

Jennie and Peter must face many challenges and dangers that await the cats at every turn, and in search of their place they even travel by ship to Glasgow!

All to find a true home. Will they succeed?
