In a small factory on the beautiful island of Bornholm, Denmark, Ailefo produces Europe's first and only organic modeling clay (playdough). As the mother of a very creative daughter, Ailefo's founder, Christiane, wanted to create a product that would be safe for both her daughter and the environment she would grow up in. As a registered nurse, she knew how many children suffer from various allergies. In 2015, Christiane decided to retire from nursing after 17 years and found Ailefo ApS. Since then, Christiane, with her daughter's help, has worked intensively to develop Ailefo Organic Modeling Clay. They kneaded and mixed the ingredients over and over in a pan inherited from her daughter's grandparents. The material stuck to their fingers or was too dry; sometimes the colors were too dull or rubbed off too easily. They tested hundreds of recipes before finally arriving at the perfect recipe for Ailefo Organic Playdough.
