Why choose merino wool?
Merino sheep live in conditions that our familiar sheep would not survive. Temperatures in their habitat range from -20 degrees Celsius in winter to 30 degrees Celsius in summer. To survive such harsh conditions, merino sheep were endowed by nature with a special wool. Merino fibers are designed to provide warmth in freezing temperatures and to breathe and cool in hot weather.
Merino wool has a completely different structure than regular, traditional wool. Traditional wool fibers are thick and don't bend or prick when in contact with the skin. Merino fibers, on the other hand, are thin and resilient, making a merino blanket very comfortable against the skin, non-itchy, soft, lightweight, and delicate.
Nature is the ultimate in perfection! No other material will be as warm and functional.
The properties of merino wool are impressive - it is a yarn that is especially recommended for winter, but in reality it is definitely a year-round yarn.
Properties of merino wool:
1. 100% natural – merino wool is obtained from sheep living in a natural, ecological environment.
2. 100% biodegradable – merino wool will decompose naturally in the soil within a few years.
3. Naturally Breathable – One of the most breathable fibers, merino wool fibers can absorb large amounts of moisture and then move it away from the skin to evaporate into the air.
4. Thermoregulation – helps maintain warmth in cold weather and prevents overheating in summer. This is especially important for young children, who don't yet have a well-developed ability to thermoregulate, so their bodies cool down faster but also warm up faster.
5. Moisture-wicking – Merino wool absorbs moisture. Moisture evaporates on the fiber surface rather than condensing. Even if the blanket gets damp, the baby won't notice. Hence, merino wool's use in products for athletes.
6. Odor-resistant – the blanket can be washed very infrequently. Merino wool absorbs moisture, which also means it absorbs sweat. Merino wool even absorbs odor molecules from sweat, which are only released after washing.
7. Fire Resistant - Wool's internal chemical structure makes it naturally flame resistant. While cotton ignites at 255°C, the temperature must reach 570-600°C before wool will ignite. Wool never melts, so it won't stick to your skin in a fire.
8. Protects against UV radiation - As a natural fiber, merino wool absorbs UV radiation, providing protection from the sun. This makes it a good choice for outdoor activities.
9. It is anti-allergic and antibacterial - sheep wax has anti-allergic properties and also repels dust and mites.
10. Naturally resilient – at a microscopic level, each merino wool fiber is like a coiled spring that returns to its natural shape when bent. This property allows merino wool products to retain their shape.
11. Stain-resistant – Merino wool fibers have a natural protective outer layer that prevents stains from absorbing. And because merino wool doesn't generate static electricity, it attracts less dust and lint.
Sleeping under products made of 100% merino wool is particularly effective and pleasant - merino regulates the sleeping child's temperature, which is suitable for a peaceful sleep.
A blanket made of merino wool you can wash really rarely.
We recommend gentle hand washing in lukewarm water at 30 degrees Celsius. Use products designed for laundry. Wool . Dry flat. Do not dry on a heat source such as a radiator or in direct sunlight. The blanket should be shaped after washing.
These blankets They are machine washable, but only on the dedicated "wool" program.
